What’s On At The Royal Albert Hall In May?

Opened in 1871 by Queen Victoria in memory of her late husband, the Royal Albert Hall is a popular London landmark. Home to a wide range of events, this impressive venue has welcomed famous musicians, singers, orchestras and performers for over a century. So what’s on the agenda for May? Let’s find out.

The Poet’s Revival – Wednesday 1 May 2024

The Royal Albert Hall and LionHeart present The Poet’s Revival at the start of May. This special evening aims to revive contemporary British poetry and invites some of today’s most culturally relevant and accomplished writers to the stage. Performers include Peabody Award-winning George The Poet, Harry Baker, a World Slam Poetry Champion, Kae Tempest, a Mercury Prize-nominee and Sunday Times Bestseller, and Momtaza Mehri, an Essayist and Young People’s Laureate of London.

Prom Praise – Saturday 4 May 2024

A whirlwind of musical energy, Prom Praise draws inspiration from the success of Olympic sprinter and Christian missionary Eric Liddell, who refused to compete in his preferred 100 metre race because it fell on a Sunday. Instead he competed in the 400m race – and won. With the return of the Olympic Games to Paris this year, the concert celebrates sportsmanship, perseverance, character and hope.

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark in Concert – 25-26 May 2024

As part of the Royal Albert Hall’s ‘Films in Concert’ series, the London Symphony Orchestra will be performing John Williams’ legendary score from Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark. Played in full for the first time since the original soundtrack was recorded back in 1981, this unmissable show enables audiences to experience the first on-screen adventure of Indiana Jones with the addition of a live orchestra. It’s a show like no other, and one that’ll enhance the adventure no end.

Exhibition: Keeping It Country – 10 May to 3 June 2024

The Royal Albert Hall presents the beautiful exhibition Keeping It Country throughout May. Photographer Alan Messer showcases his storied collection, capturing the heart of country music’s legends and newcomers alike. Having photographed international country stars in London during the mid-1970s, he later moved to Nashville, the home of the genre, in 1978 to open his own studio. Messer’s exhibition offers a glimpse into his vast catalogue documenting country music’s most legendary eras, artists and moments.

Please note, this exhibition can only be viewed when attending a performance at the Hall.
